Qatar parking and road test: a preparation checklist
Use supervised lessons to build safe observation, positioning and vehicle control. School guidance offers useful practice checks, but test arrangements and marking rules need confirmation with your own school.
Observation and control to practise
- Check mirrors and blind spots before changing lane, merging or leaving the kerb.
- Brake smoothly and avoid sudden braking unless it is necessary for safety (Art. 53).
- Stop fully at a STOP sign and wait for a safe gap.
- Listen to instructions. If an instruction is unclear, ask for clarification before acting.
Do not rely on an internet list of automatic failures. Ask your instructor how observation, boundary contact, corrections and vehicle control are assessed at your centre.
Before you move
Adjust the seat and mirrors. Check the handbrake and, in a manual car, use the starting procedure taught by your instructor. Fasten your seat belt and ask passengers to fasten theirs. Check around the vehicle before moving.
On-road checklist

| Changing lane | Check mirrors and blind spots, signal in good time and move only when safe. Keep the signal on until the manoeuvre is complete (Art. 46). |
| Joining a main road | Give way to traffic already on the main road. Check for a safe gap and enter only when there is space (Art. 76). |
| Roundabout | Follow lane arrows and signs, give way to traffic from the left and stay in your lane. Make any lane change only after checking and signalling (Art. 46 and 73). |

The parking test
The school guidance in our notes describes L-parking, pocket or parallel parking and a ramp or hill start for light vehicles. Confirm which manoeuvres apply to your course. Use the reference points and brake control taught for your training vehicle, keep observing around you and move slowly enough to stay in control.
Ask your instructor about the current test sequence, allowed corrections, boundary-contact rules and hill-start procedure. Practise only under suitable supervision, not by blocking a live road, entrance or reserved parking bay.
Test day
- Confirm your appointment time, location, clothing requirements and documents with the school.
- Bring your learner permit. The law requires a learner to carry it (Art. 33).
- Allow time to arrive and settle before your appointment.
- Use the observation and control routine you practised with your instructor.
If you need another attempt
Ask your school which attempts are included in your course, how a retest is booked, whether extra lessons are required, and what fees or waiting periods apply. Review the result with your instructor and practise the skills that need work.
